Food Storage Recipes – Taco Soup

One of the biggest issues that I hear about food storage is that you can’t eat it. I will let you know right now that I love to eat. Anyone who knows me can testify to that. When we first started using our food storage we made some mistakes. I want to share with you some of the mistakes we have made so you don’t have to make those same ones. I will also share with you the recipes and the food that we make using our food storage. As I said earlier, I love to eat and will not eat food that doesn’t taste good. I also have very picky eaters for kids and they will eat almost all of these recipes. The recipe that I would like to share with you today is Taco Soup.

Recipe

  • 1 large can v8 juice
  • 1 15 oz can chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 15 oz can of corn
  • 1 15 oz can of black beans
  • 1/2 a package of taco seasoning
  • Cut up chicken

Combine in a large pot.  Bring to a boil.  Enjoy!

There are a couple of things I want to bring up. First, you can put as much chicken in this recipe as you want. We have used shredded chicken from the can and shredded chicken ourselves. There is not a huge difference and tastes delicious either way. Second, all of these ingredients we have in our short term food storage. Remember to have the food you will eat in your food storage and learn how to use it.

The most important part of this meal is the CHIPS. You must choose the right chips to dip and scoop. Our kids love some shredded chesse on top of the soup. Might be a good idea.  Enjoy using your food storage.
